My Story(英語)

Hey everyone! I’m Sarah. I grew up in New Zealand, but my mother was from Canada and my father is from the UK, so my family is spread out all over the world!

I started studying Japanese in high school because I wanted to learn a second language, and I was fascinated by the Japanese writing system, which is very different from the English alphabet. I was also interested in anime and Harajuku fashion!

I moved to Japan in 2013. I lived in Kyoto for two years, and then I moved to Osaka. Now I live near Umeda with my husband and our Siamese cat Chester. When I’m not teaching at OEC, I do some freelance translation work.

I love travelling and have visited many countries while working as an interpreter and translator for the NGO cruise ship Peace Boat. I hope to visit more countries in the future!

I’m into baking, hiking, watching movies, listening to music, playing games, and reading. I sometimes read books in Japanese too. I especially like horror, for example Junji Ito’s manga and Otsuichi’s short stories. If you have any recommendations, please let me know!
