私の英語勉強法

私は様々な方法で英語を勉強しています。
リーディング、リスニング、ライティング、スピーキングと英語には４技能ありますが、その全てを基本的には大学で勉強しています。
専攻科目が主に英語で行われるということもあり、１週間に２回は大学でネイティヴの先生と関わる機会があります。
私は両親から「中学校に入ってから英語への苦手意識がつかないように」と小さい頃から英語に関わる機会を与えてもらっていたので、どちらかというと英語は幼い頃から身近なものとなっていました。
高校で１年間留学していた為、文法やリスニングへの苦手意識はなかったのですが、リスニングや語彙にあまり自信がなかったのでこのOECに通うことに決めました。
たいていは先生と会話するのを楽しみ、口語でよく使われるスラングで知らなかった単語を覚えていくようにしています。真面目な時事問題などについてのディスカッションを行うこともあります。その時は自分の英語能力以上のものが必要となるため、少しハードルが高いですが自分の中にある知識をフル活用で頑張っています(笑)レッスン後はかなり疲れますが、先生の価値観や、難しい単語を知れたり、とても楽しいです。
その他に、私はOne Directionが好きで、邦楽よりは洋楽をメインに聞いて歌詞を和訳したり、洋画を観てそこから知らないスラングを覚えたりしています。
大学二回生現在、今まで通っていた中学、高校とは違い英語４技能のうちどの部分が足りていないかを自分自身で把握し、自ら勉強しなければならないため、TOEICやIELTSなどのテストを定期的に受けて自己分析し、そして自分のモチベーションを上げています。
これからも自分の最大限を目指して英語を勉強していきたいと思います。
How I study English

I study English in many ways. First of all, I’m an university student so I study all of my English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) there. Because my major classes are usually in English, I have the opportunity to talk with native teachers twice a week. I started learning English when I was a child, because my parents thought it would be the easiest way for me to get used to English before I started learning English at junior high school. When I studied abroad in New Zealand for a year, and I came back to Japan, I didn’t have negative feelings for English grammar or listening. However, I found my main weaknesses were speaking and vocabulary so I started going to OEC. I usually enjoy just having conversations with the teachers and I learn some new slang, but sometimes I have a very serious topic lesson. This kind of lesson requires a lot of common sense or skills that I can’t cover with my English, so I’m always tired afterwards but I still enjoy learning how teachers think about the topic and new difficult words. Moreover, I listen to more English songs than Japanese ones so I memorise some vocabulary that I don’t know. I also watch English movies without subtitles and challenge myself to see if I can understand the story. Now that I’m in my second year of university, unlike junior high school or high school, I need to know what skill I have to improve. To motivate myself, I regularly take TOEIC and IELTS. I’ll continue to study English to the best of my ability.
